Do Commercials Wake You Up?

Have you ever noticed that the commercials are louder than the program you are watching? It isn’t just in your
imagination. Some commercials actually are louder and the Commercial Advertisement Loudness Mitigation Act (CALM) is trying to change that. CALM is currently being discussed by Congress to give the Federal Communication Commission power to prohibit the commercials from being louder than your regularly scheduled programming.
What do you think of this idea? Do you think federal intervention is necessary or should something else be done?
Feel free to share your thoughts.

If the Fed gov’t doesn’t have anything better to do then regulate the commercials we are watching, I think we are in a lot of trouble.
That being said, if they are going to jump into that puddle, they might as well make changes more then 1% of the population will care about. How about limiting the time of commericals to 30 seconds or less? What about making “red herring” commericals illegal? How about removing misleading advertising? How about doing everyone a REAL favor and getting all those terrible Mucinex commericals with the giant animated mucus and pathetically fake coughing off of the air?
Anyways, my point of view is… do it right or don’t do it at all.
