Scooters: The New Economical “It” Factor
July 8, 2010 by akemp

Hey Bailey Creek! Do you own a scooter? If so, be prepared to see more around town, because they are starting to reach another height in their popularity, especially around the Memphis area.
In these harsh economic times, investing in a scooter doesn’t seem so bad. They’re so economically efficient. According to an article from Commercial Appeal, a 65 year old scooter rider only pays $3 a week on gas for his scooter and that gives him at least 100 mpgs. Now, I don’t know how the schematics of that works, but it sure sounds good!
The great things about scooters is that there isn’t an age cap! Of course you have to be of a certain age to buy and ride one, but people young and old can ride them! Memphis Vespa/Metro Moto (3125 Poplar Ave) speaks on how their sales have increased this year, after a definite drop once the economy took a down turn.
Yes sales have improved, but not as dramatically as one would hope. I see it rising in the future. Scooters are fun!
What do you think is the most beneficial part of having a scooter?

5 Tips to Avoid a Solar Tattoo

Don’t know what a solar tattoo is? Let me ask you this: have you ever come in from outdoors looking about 10 shades redder than you remember yourself to be, and slightly more itchy? If you answered yes, then you’ve been victim to a solar tattoo before, or more commonly known as, sunburn.
Since it’s finally summer time, you’re going to be spending a lot of time outside, whether it’s hanging with friends, on a beach, or laying pool side at the gorgeous Bailey Creek pool. You have to be careful though; these days the suns rays are at an all time high.
So what do you do to protect yourself from sunburn when you’re hanging out at the Bailey Creek pool, or just being outside period? Keep these five tips in mind the next time you venture outdoors:
- Avoid outdoor activity between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. This four-hour period is when the sun’s rays are at their most intense. The hottest time of day is around 3 pm, so plan accordingly.
- Wear a wide-brimmed hat. Baseball caps may help protect your face, but they leave the back of your neck and ears exposed. A good sunblocking hat will shade your face, ears, and neck. These days, men and women can find a nice looking wide brimmed hat at your local clothing stores.
- If you must be outside for an extended period of time, use a broad-spectrum sunblock. A broad-spectrum sunblock, which blocks both UVA and UVB rays, is a must for exposed skin
- Make sure to buy sunglasses with UVA and UVB protection, because mere glass alone cannot protect you from those harmful rays.
- Cloudy skies do not equal safety outdoors. Just because you can’t necessarily SEE the sun, that doesn’t mean that it’s rays are not beaming down on you, threatening to burn you to a crisp. While clouds do block some of the sun’s rays, the ones that get through are the most intense and most dangerous. So be smart.
These are only a few tips to avoid sunburn, but they make a world of difference. Trust me. I’ve been there, and it’s not a good look.
So have fun when laying poolside at Bailey Creek’s gorgeous pool, just be smart and safe while doing so.
!!!! CLUTTER MONSTER ALERT!!!!

HELP! My apartment has been invaded by clutter monsters, and I’m sure he’s invaded your a couple of times, too. When we get busy in our everyday life, we tend to allow our home to get out of order. Even sometimes, when we try as best as we can to make sure that our space stays clean, ever so often, we fall behind, thus throwing everything out of order.
But if there was one place in your apartment that you would vow to keep organized, no matter what the case may be, which one would you choose? I would definitely have to go with my closet. Think about it: most of the clutter comes from the shoes, jackets, and clothing lying around, right? So if we were to keep that in order, we would probably save ourselves a lot of time and clutter.
If you had to choose a room, which one would it be?

Now, let me tell you, I’m not entirely sure if this would work, but hey, the guy in the video says it does right? Try at your own risk, I think I’ll stick to disc cleaners though…
The best thing about the tip is that it uses all household items; you don’t have to go out to buy anything! Hmm, maybe it’s worth looking into after all.

If you’ve ever seen this message entering your Facebook account with a video attached, you also know that this is the grammatically correct way of writing the often jumbled sentence. You also know that whoever’s account sent you the message, is now a victim of a phishing scam.
I think I know of at least 10 of my friends who’s accounts got broken into. Since my Facebook message notifications get sent straight to my phone, at random points during the day my phone would vibrate with these scam messages. And that folks, gets very annoying. So I see why so many people are opting to delete their accounts.
To help with this issue, Facebook officials have provided how-to instructions to setting your notifications in a way that they’ll alert you if someone hacks into your account. It’s set up in a way that you have to register your computer and set up security questions when logging in from other computers. Hopefully this new technique would work…I’m tired of these random messages!

New Uses for Clear Nail Polish

You can’t beat finding new uses for something you already own! I found this cool article that teaches you 10 new uses for clear nail polish.
Ok guys, I know you all don’t have an bottle of clear nail polish laying around, but if you DID…you’d find this super useful!
Below are a few…
- Making jewelry last. Give beads a thin layer of polish to keep them looking bright and glossy!
- Sealing envelopes. dab on a little polish to keep them glued nice and tight.
- Threading needles. Run the cut side of the thread through the polish brush then roll the thread between your fingers a couple times. The thread becomes stiffer and much easier to get through the eye of the needle.
- Keeping belt buckles pristine. Shellac belt buckles with a coat of polish to prevent oxidation and to keep them bright and shiny. ~shine.yahoo.com

And Yet…Another Sequel
May 10, 2010 by akemp

Well, if it’s the third movie, it can’t really be called a sequel right? Is a ‘threequel’ then? Anyway, as is the trend now, another movie has joined the ‘movies with more than 2 installments’ franchise. Will Smith’s and Tommy Lee Jones’ summer 1997 hit ‘Men in Black’ is making a third installment, and it’s slated for release for the summer of 2012.
Now, I don’t really care what the movie is as long as Will Smith is in it, but come on. How many times can aliens attempt to take over the Earth? In addition to that, a sequel to ‘Independence Day’ is also being negotiated. I will have total respect for the writers of both movies if they can come up with a substantially creative plot for both films. Well, the upcoming summers should prove to be very interesting.
I’m more excited about the movies coming out this summer.
What do you think about the onslaught of sequels lately?
Does anyone else have ‘Bad Romance’ stuck in their head?

If I hear ‘Bad Romance‘ by Lady Gaga one more time…I don’t know what I’d do. I just know that it is CONSTANTLY in my head; if it’s not my nieces and nephews, it’s my coworkers, lol. I often get mad at myself throughout the day when I catch myself singing it. It’s not my fault thought, it’s these remakes.
And there are a good number of remakes to the ‘Bad Romance’ video floating around the internet. Many of them are parodies and are utterly hilarious, but this one…this one was actually pretty good. This group of guys sung Lady Gaga’s hit a capella with some hilarious dance moves mixed in between.
Check it out!
